Food waste is generated during the preparation of meals in company, institution or restaurant kitchens. This category also covers production and distribution waste as well as out-of-date food, packaged or unpackaged. However, packaged food in glass containers cannot be mixed with other food waste.
Packaged food waste is collected in an organic box while unpackaged and fermentable residue is gathered in tanks or wheelie bins. This is collected separately and processed in our own bio-methanisation plant in Quévy. This process generates green energy. As for the packaging, it is converted into pellets at our Dottignies plant.
