Plaster is widely used in the construction industry, especially as an interior finish. Plaster waste has to be removed separately from other building and demolition waste. Plasterboard and blocks must not contain asbestos or be covered with any (insulating) material.
Currently, plaster waste is rarely sorted at source. And yet plaster is perfect recycling material. It is separated from shredder residue like paper in a specialised recycling plant. This is taken to the paper processing industry. As for the plaster, it's turned into new plasterboard. Sorting plaster at source leads to a considerable reduction in the amount of primary material needed.
Choose a type of waste to see what is or is not allowed.
